The Timmy Moloney Cashel King Cormac's Easter Camp 2025
It was with profound sadness when we learned of the passing of Timmy on Saturday September 30th 2023.
As a young fella the indications were obvious that Timmy possessed that 'X factor' when it came to his hurling ability. At club level he was a standout performer week in week out and it wasn't long before his talent was recognised and utilised in the Blue and Gold of his proud county of Tipperary. Club minor and U.21 county championship titles soon followed. Senior hurling beckoned with Justin McCarthy thrusting him into the thick of the action for the club Senior team as a raw 18 year old but that certainly didn't faze him. Many a game Timmy's skill, accuracy and ferocity from placed balls coming to his team's rescue when all seemed lost. Timmy was part of his clubs one and only Dan Breen success in 1991. Throw in a county U.21 'A' football championship with victory over hot favourites Clonmel Commercials on a cold chilly January day in Kilsheelan. Timmy was pivotal in all those great club triumphs.
When work took Timmy to London in the mid 90's he soon found his feet and settled into life with Sean Treacy's GAA club where he quickly became a club favourite. Some great achievements followed with club but he also excelled with London representing them in the National Hurling League constantly topping the scoring charts whilst often featuring on the Sunday game in some big wins for London picking up awards in the process.
After a few years Timmy returned home to Cashel and setup his paving business, Rock Paving giving employment to many in the locality. He soon settled back to play where it all began with his home club Cashel King Cormac's. This time around he turned his hand to the future generations guiding many underage teams to successes. Some of those players now currently form the backbone of our Senior Hurling team, his son Daniel included. Not only was the GAA club the benefactors of his coaching prowess he worked with teams in the Cashel KC Camogie club helping also to bring through some very talented players with many victories along the way. His daughter Ciara a winner of a County Camogie title just last year in which she settled the game with a hat trick of goals. Timmy also became instrumental in the development of the grounds as you see them here today. Never one to hang around his approach to ideas or plans at committee level was, let's get it done, and this he did, often without the go ahead such was his enthusiasm.
During those years Timmy also helped the local rugby club Cashel RFC to many big days out. Winning Junior and Challenge Cups alongside his brother Barry. A great pastime was his love of Cards and a good game of poker. Among other things was his passion supporting Liverpool with many trips to Anfield over the years.
An all round sportsman from a great sporting family. Timmy's passing has certainly left a void for his family and the many friends so fortunate to have known him as their friend.
This year's Easter Camp is a fitting tribute to Timmy and his family. We remember his own contributions to sporting life in our locality but more importantly acknowledge and keep alive his infectious personality, that very sharp wit that remained steadfast right up until his passing.
